Setbuild

Another project at university! We have to build a set from a film in a team and take photogrpahs of it. The aim is to match the original frame as much as possible. I have already done this project. We had a week..
One of the most stressful weeks of my life! My team and I chose the film atonement.

This is the frame we chose..

The week was very successful! We were all actually a bit shocked about how well. This is our re-creation of it.

We still are in need of editing this image!

I took a portrait of Nikki and love how it came out. She looks young and care free. I am going to use this image for my project. Her pose seems young and child like, almost posey leaning out the door.

I am going to put this picture with some photographs that I took of baby toys, bottles etc.
I think it gets the point across. In this portrait she has her own identity of a young girl, care-free and smiley. The other images add the other part of her. Her baby is who she is also.

Series And Sequence

This is a new project I have been working on for university. The idea of this project was to create a series of images that linked together and explained something, the brief was left very broad so we could experiment and do basically whatever we wanted.

I decided to base mine on my best friend from home, Nikki Miles. I wanted the series to be about something that had happened. Something new that had changed my life and the people around me. I chose Nikki as she had fell pregnant and I wanted to base my project on teen moms. I was going to take portraits of girls I had been to school with. Them and their children.

I had always had a negative outlook on young mums. I just always thought that it was not the best age to have children when your basically a child yourself. My view has changed as the closest person to me was now in the same situation as many girls. I wanted to portrait them being happy.

I had always figured that young mums must be miserable but sometimes I tihnk that I have neer seen Nikki so happy. I was going to shoot over easter...

The two other young mums could not make it on the day we had arranged so I had to go in a new direction with this project. I decided to base it on nikki, her being young yet having responsibilities of being a mother.

The Shoot

My shoot went well, The weather was not that great but still managed to get some shots that I am really happy with. My model was absolutely freezing so considering the weather conditions, I am pretty happy with the outcome of the shoot. Here is one of the images I have edited.

I retouched this image, the model had a strand of hair over her mouth which really bugged me!
I tried my best to make it look as normal as before, this is the edited picture before I removed the strand of hair...

This does look more natural, but the hair is a bit frustrating. I am going to edit another photograph, one that is more 'chloe' like

Test Shots And Preperation For Shoot

I have picked an outfit for my model/models.
I have decided to shoot this project with a metz small flash. As I am going to a wood location it is easier to carry compared to the studio equiptment, I have organised some friends to come along and help with the shoot also.

Fashion Project

For this project at university we got a brief and had to choose from a list of brands, designers and products to advertise. We could create a new campaign for this product. I chose to advertise the brand chloe. I have been researching the campaigns they have done, and found this one interesting -

Photographer - Mikael Jansson

I am thinking about doing the spring/summer campaign for chloe.
I have researched and looked at the lookbooks that are available.
I found this images which show the type of colours and style chloe will be using for their
spring/summer collection. These images were inspired by the chloe lookbook, images courtesy of chloe.

Random Shoots...

Model - Katherine Farndale <3

This picture was took outside our student accomadation, next to the Medway river.
I used photoshop to create the dark vignetting around the image.

This was taken in Rochester, down the highstreet.
I like the colours of the leafs on the ground, its seems to make the image almost warmer, incontrast to the dark colours of the subjects clothes

This was a snap-shot image of my friend as she was waiting to cross the road.
I like the rain drop detail on the umbrella. I think I prefer shooting in black&white, I always thought that it is less distracting, I like bringing out detail in an image, ofcourse colour can help to ahcieve this also. It is just a personal preference.

Snap Shots

Model - Jody Bennett

These were captured down Rochester Highstreet, This was right at the start of university.
I had only been living in Rochester for about a month. My sister came to visit and I showed her around the town.

I just found this picture which I took in September... I want it to be sunny ish again

Self-Portrait

This is my self-portrait..

I always thought with a self-portrait, the viewer should be able to read the photograph.. so I thought, why not make a self-portrait where you can actually read it. I chose this idea as the information you see in this image is what makes me who I am. Even though it's not visable, I still feel it's on me everywhere I go. Its information/facts about me that will not change. It's my life.

Here are some of the other images I took for my self-portrait but did not use as my final image....

University Work

These images were my finals for a project called 'first sight'.. It was meant to show my first thoughts of this new place. I had never lived away from home until I came to university, I wanted the images to come across almost lonely. I kept distance from the people that were in the images. I needed to show that I felt far from home. I was no longer in Brighton... I was in the 'lonely' streets of Rochester. I wanted the images to have a snapshot effect as it gives the idea of someone walking the streets feeling alone.

Larger Format Project...

For this project I had to find an interior space and photograph it on a large format camera. I had never used a large format before, I managed to work it okay...took a few trys to make sure I set up everything correctly but I got there. This is the image I chose for this project.

Moving Stills

For this project, I got paired up with a partner and had to choose a character and a genre at random. We then had 36 frames to make a film, the film had to include the character of an insomniac and genre had to be action.

We have not yet had our workshop to edit the sequence of the images yet..I will post the video up when it is finished.
